Oh look, it's the best time of the year again!

Link to my Master Letter of Likes, Dislikes, Tropes, DNW expansions etc.

Mediums: Firstly, I love fic. Fic is great. I would not at all be disappointed with fic. That said, I really do just think that the creative potential of All The Mediums is absolutely awesome and I want to see what you do. Show me what medium makes you excited or happy or you think is neat. However, for specific inspiration points, which are not meant to be limiting because my brain is my brain, and your brain will do awesome your-brain things which my brain can't even conceive of...

I love podfic, songs, audio, not-fic-as-audio etc. Vids are awesome as well, especially when folks manage to create a narrative/ship/critique of the original when they put their cut to music. Art and comics are *amazing* and I am in awe of people who can make art. I really love in-universe documents, diaries, letters, drawings etc. Reddit threads and other ways outsider povs or 'commoners' can comment on whatever main character shenanigans is happening is always awesome. Meta and essays are joy. Knitting/crochet/cross stitch patterns? Yes please.

Dear Yuletide Creator!

Firstly, I want you to have fun! First goal of yuletide is fun, ~~second is turning into a PH gremlin (that might just be me)~~ second is making fic gems for tiny fandoms.

'Opt-ins' which probably deserve a mention:

I'm very happy for you to create original characters/creatures/viewpoints to explore whatever worldbuilding aspects and timelines you want to play with.

Trans-headcanons, explorations, and queering of canons is always welcome. All Rule 63 methods and ideas always welcome. Queering any character or situation is always welcome.

Making something *more weird* is always welcome. If you want to take the historical blorbos, give them daemons, pop them on a spaceship where they're tattoo artists who learnt it in space prison? Go for it. I just don't like AUs which reduces the weird, so modern for historical fandoms, or no-magic for magic ones etc.

Crossovers are lovely. I explicitly said 'anything I've bookmarked or requested before', but you can also go for fandom blind if it allows for some level of outside pov to give me context. So if Chrestomanci drops into Criminal Minds, and it's Reid's pov of what the fuck is going on and wondering who Christopher is, or the other way around, with Christopher's pov on the Criminal Minds crew, the set up will absolutely give me joy and I'll read that blind and with delight.

I went full throttle on the possibilities here. Obviously. I just... I love when folks have fun making something? The creativity of all those options is completely wild to me, and I just... I want you to have so much fun.

I do love fic, and appreciate straight fic. That's the majority of what I've read since 2001. No need to stress if you're gifting the main medium.

I just would adore anything where it looks like the creator was having fun. Go absolutely wild. Do the thing you have an idea for. Let it be weird and wild, or contained and complicated and intense. In universe documents? podfic? r/AmITheArsehole posts? Logic puzzles? Things which I barely understood what they are? Go for it.

Whatever seems like a fun idea, I'm here for it. I'm vibing with the creative possibilities.

I made a joke on the discord that the only medium I know I'd struggle with is a knitting pattern, because I don't know how to knit. But my high school best friend has a knitting teaching channel, and I'm willing to learn. (Crochet? Cross stitch? Recipes? I can already do those ones!)

(very last minute) letter for BDSM exchange 2022.

Lovely creator, I plan to edit this to be complete by Tuesday 14th.

I signed up for this one right under the wire. Last minute, much stress, just throwing tags at things when I found them. Sorry for the messy sign up. Any inequality on the tags or descriptions does not reflect my level of interest.

Our lovely mods added spousal abuse to my DNWs post sign up (because I messed up), which contradicts one aspect of my standard c&p DNW list.

Longer explanation of my spousal abuse trigger: Non-consensual controlling behaviour, especially in non-sexual/non-scene situations. Emotional and psychological abuse things. Possibility of triggering me about controlling a spouse, when the control is in a non-bedroom situation. Control of friendships, outside relationships, finances etc. especially when it's framed as 'for your own good', care, or protective.

But if you're writing a villain doing bad things, I'm okay. Slade/Dick etc can have controlling behaviour. Make that messy! But I don't want a fic where someone who isn't canonically bad/morally ambiguous doing that to their lover.

General BDSM likes:
Smut or no smut is good.
Aftercare.
Sex or scenes which end in playful laughter and not taking themselves too seriously.
Competence kink.
Praise kink (as humiliation is a bit dodgy for me sometimes) but praise kink is amazing.
Painplay of whatever flavour.
Dom pov, or sub pov. Both are fab, and I can vibe with both of them. Outsider povs are also great. If you want an OC voyeur pov of the couple, go for it.
Dominant masochism.
marking - bites, bruises, collars, possessive jewelry.
A dom giving a permanent mark: scarification? Piercings? Tattoos? One fic where a highly competent sadist gave his sub a nipple piercing as a romantic gesture has lived on in my psyche since 2006.

(Exception to this: Couple tattoos... if both people are getting tattooed, it's okay, but the real life connotations of one person getting a representation of their lover/SO etc on them is... a lot I don't want to think about in my escapism. This might seem like a contradiction to my oooh, body mods are sexy! But I don't want anyone's name/portrait/property of etc on someone's body.
Being given explicit permission mod someone's body and doing it with a lot of sexy competence is different to getting a name tattoo which is the real world echo I don't like.)

Corsetry, leather, gloves, boots, lingerie.

I'm trash for Jack in a separate but related way. I can totally see him as a very accomodating man who likes to make someone feel great, and taking charge and making me go ungh.

For both of these verses, I love a bit of military/orders/heirarchy/DADT drama etc angles to it. Lots of my queer understandings of the universe were formed under these two fandoms.

World Building EX 2022

Here is a letter. I should work on it. Ooops.

I love how Dalemark is a fantasy world which goes through phases and changes. Historical artifacts are being created in the weaving, and storytelling and songs and ballads are all intertwined with how the culture and gods and understanding are developed and change over time.

I love how even the geology changes within the series: the world changes, physically and culturally and technologically. We get so many slices of history within a world. We see the beginnings of new ways of living. We see the start of industrialisation, and the end of gods, and it's all just so Big.

I love the weaving as spells and storytelling and fabric. Dress historian examining Dalemark things? Linguists or mythology professors arguing meaning? A fed up college student's sarcastic essay on how no one could ever have believed that weaving could be magic?

Many Yuletides ago (8 years ago), a perfect human gifted me a Dalemark Quartet/Time Team mash up. The idea behind that is still so cherished to me. Dalemark is a fantasy continent which has *history* and geology and shifts on a grand scale, and anything which explores that is amazing, and anything which pastiches that way of exploring thigns... WOAH.

DNW: anything focused on Maewen/the Crown of Dalemark book. Use the time frame, sure, but the actual characters and plot left me with a pile of sigh.

Just... I love that Peter saw the 'left over women' of WWI as a resource to be used. These are brilliant women not really given the option to marry and carry on life as it used to be, and so they go off and become a secret spy network? It's the most amazing thing.

I want to know about how the Cattery came about. How it works? How the internal power struggles of the ladies might fall out? Something gossipy and full of intrigue and tea break gossip? Office politics?

...just thought of this, but Murder Must Advertise is my favourite novel, and the vibe of the cluttered typists room, and the gossip that flows through it, and the power those ladies have.

Something like that, with the Cattery? Or even just what the hell is on Peter's bookkeeper's desk to explain the expenses the Cattery entails? Do they ever get to bring evidence to the police? Do any of the ladies have specific scams they like to bring down most?

I love outsider pov on the Waynes, and the bats, and the whole Justice League. Gotham must be such a weird place to live as a civilian.

I'd adore coming back from the dead to be such a mainstream thing as to have specific Gotham paperwork. Or it being a giant mess and Jason is justifiably salty about the whole thing?

DNW: Bruce/any batkids (the media speculating about it is fine, excellent even, so long as it's not true) as those ships are not for me, thanks. Permanently dead Alfred.

The magpies? What do I even mean by that? Fuck if I know, I just think they're all fabulous. The tattoos, obviously; the corvids following Crane around when he's on the street too; the ones on the family plates all coming to life?

I love to see more of the internal politics and fuck ups and machinations of the Justiciary. The layers of class etc that we already saw were amazing, but like all good bureaucracy, we didn't scratch more than the surface. I love the idea of them being overwhelmed by form filling and such in a future manifestation of it? How it got codified and created?

Chinese vs English magic... I just like the idea that culture and magic are very interconnected, and the way Stephen does things aren't compatible with working in China. Or it being very compatible, but tricky. Or learning new things - someone learning English styles, or Chinese styles? The idea of certain forms of magic being taboo to one culture and not to another?

Happy Yuletide!

Overarcing loves: Almost anything. I love a good trope-filled romp, or a deliberate character study, or just interpersonal drama being complex and delicious. I would love things in a similar tone to these original texts, but if you want to take it a 180 and have a post-apocalypse Chrestomanci, go for it.

I love queer versions of things, and deep dives to dissect characters and their motivations, and I adore mental illness and neurodivergence and disability treated with respect and thought.

"Embarrassment humour"?: I don't like that type of comedy which relies on a person being embarrassed, or doing embarrassing things and not knowing they are embarrassing. Prat fall humour, the humour of The Office, or Ricky Gervais, or mistaken identity shenanigans. Had nightmares about Mrs Doubtfire as a child.

Explicit things: Any rating is fine, for either sex or violence. I'm good with any level of horror or gore or psychological terror. I'm good with all kink except scat/watersports.

Because I picked up a pinch-hit (it's *lovely*, the requester has awesome vision), I'm posting a wish list in case anyone's loves overlap with mine and they're in a treating mood. Because Yuletide is the best time of the year.

General squicks:
Embarrassment squick, especially with deliberately 'mistaken' identities. Disability or mental illness treated without care (some able-ism and such is okay, hello reality, but ignorance makes me cringe). Trans* issues treated without care.

General loves:
Anything. Sex can be as kinky as you can think of, I'll read it all (and if you can porn in all of these fandoms, power to you). LGBTQ+ is awesome. Het is also awesome. Disability or mental illness treated with care = love. Deathfic is sad and I love it. AUs are my happy place. Character whumping (I can't see who, but hey, I can get on that). If fandom has thought of it, I have read (and loved) it.
