The theme challenge for this month is Party (Please include the tag challenge: party when you post.) Theme challenges have to do with fic choice. Since this month's challenge is 'party' your story has to be related to that theme one way or another.

The shape challenge is ‘5 v' (tag challenge: 5 v). This should be at minimum 5 squares, ie:

OOOOO
OOXOO
OXOXO
XOOOX
OOOOO

Shape challenges require that you complete a specific shape of squares on your card. If you complete a shape challenge by the deadline, you’ll win a cheat. If your card already has the shape formation before the challenge starts, you can only count that challenge as completed if you fill at least one square on your card within the challenge time period.

You can pick the challenge you prefer or do both if you're feeling ambitious. Once you’ve posted the podfic required to fulfill the monthly challenge, please comment here to let us know you’ve completed the challenge.

If you complete a challenge, you earn a cheat. If none of the challenges appeal to you, you can also earn cheats by commenting on other people's podfics.

What are Cheats?
Cheats are rewards that allow participants to manipulate their cards so that they can be finished more easily. There are 2 kinds of cheats: shifting squares and swapping out squares. Shifting squares allows participants to swap locations of two squares on their card. Swapping out cheats allow you to discard one of your prompts entirely from your card and replace it with a prompt of your choosing from the Prompt List.

Got arrested for terrorism in 2025

Happy new year!

I’ve been trying to post about this for ages and having an ADHD procrastination about it. But it’s one of the big things of my 2025, so now seems like a good time.

I’ve been charged under the Terrorism Act for sitting in Parliament Square holding a sign. I’m currently waiting for a court date.

cut for an explanation for people who haven’t heard about Palestine Action and the UK government’s repression )

So yeah, Defend Our Juries is basically a group that tries to defend free expression, the rule of law, etc, in the increasingly authoritarian UK. And their reaction to Palestine Action’s proscription was to try to make it unenforceable via mass civil disobedience. And I joined in.

Now, the ban is being challenged in court - right now, as it happens, but we don’t know what’s going on with that. The founder of Palestine Action wants the ban struck down, and if that happens, the thousands of people arrested over this will almost certainly go free. But we don’t know yet.

In August, over 500 people showed up to Parliament Square, and at 1pm they all sat down, wrote the words, ‘I oppose genocide, I support Palestine Action’ on a sign, and waited to be arrested. Then they were. 50% of them were 60 or older.

I couldn’t make it to that one, but I was there in September. That time almost 900 of us were arrested.

The idea is to make the law unenforceable in practice. In August, people had been arrested and given ‘street bail’; it had helped the police process them. So for September we were asked to refuse street bail. The London Met only has around 500 holding cells, so the system would strain to manage us. And that very clearly worked, at least from my POV.

cut for the details of the day. Warning: SUPER long )

Which brings me to possible consequences, if you’re curious!

- Up to six months in prison. In practice not gonna happen, if only due to a different horrifying problem with the UK justice system; prison overcrowding is so severe that Labour doesn’t want anyone being sent to prison for less than a year.

- An unlimited fine; the level of it used to be £5k. I think this might happen. But my parents will help, and I think Defend Our Juries will be able to fundraise, though I won’t take money from them unless I have to.

- Permanent travel restrictions. Having a terrorism conviction does limit your ability to get a visa, which sucks; I may never be able to visit Japan, f’rinstance, and if I wanted to work abroad again it’d be harder.

- Potentially could affect jobs, because it’d likely come up on the criminal records check they do for teachers. Only potentially, though; teaching English as a foreign language is definitely a field that selects for pro-Palestine types, and I’d be able to explain the context of a case that’s been in the news. The only criminal offences that legally stop you from being hired as a teacher of kids or vulnerable adults are offences against kids or vulnerable adults, which this obviously isn’t.

Like I said, the ban might be struck down anyway. That said, I’ve lost confidence in that because the judge who was going to oversee the case, who’d refused government appeals to not have the judicial review of the ban at all, as replaced at the absolute last minute by three magistrates. Seems like a stitch-up.

Direct action is very satisfying, and this combines some of the causes I care about most: free speech, the rule of law, and a free Palestine. No regrets.

I’ll keep you posted.

Привет and welcome to our new Russian friends from LiveJournal! We are happy to offer you a new home. We will not require identification for you to post or comment. We also do not cooperate with Russian government requests for any information about your account unless they go through a United States court first. (And it hasn't happened in 16 years!)

Importing your journal from ЖЖ may be slow. There are a lot of you, with many posts and comments, and we have to limit how fast we download your information from ЖЖ so they don't block us. Please be patient! We have been watching and fixing errors, and we will go back to doing that after the holiday is over.

I am very sorry that we can't translate the site into Russian or offer support in Russian. We are a much, much smaller company than LiveJournal is, and my high school Russian classes were a very long time ago :) But at least we aren't owned by Sberbank!

С Новым Годом, and welcome home!

Thank you also to everyone who's been giving our new neighbors a warm welcome. I love you all ❤️

I never posted this here! :o

This was written in such a panic, haha, but it has a good rate of bookmarking on AO3 so I think it came out okay??? And I'm still so pleased I finally wrote cute werewolf fic.

Title: Speaking Without Words
Word count: ~10, 400
Characters/pairings: Noctis/Prompto
Rating: Teen
Summary: Being a werewolf wasn’t a big problem in Prompto’s life until he was about sixteen. But now Noct was definitely gonna find out - and then Ignis would find out.
Content notes: emotional hurt/comfort
Author’s Notes: This was written for [profile] maniikoi for the Promptis Exchange. Many thanks to the incredible patience and kindness of the mod, [personal profile] star54kar, and to [profile] sodsta for his beta-ing!

(If you'd like to see previous years' master lists, 2011 is here, 2012 is here, 2013 is here, 2014 is here, 2015 is here, 2016 is here, 2017 is here, 2018 is here, 2019 is here, 2020 is here, 2021 is here, 2022 is here, 2023 is here, and 2024 is here.)

Happy 15th annual #ITPE!!!! Thank you for bearing with us despite Tumblr sabotaging us not just once, but twice.

Here’s some stats and highlights from this year’s #ITPE!

We had 73 participants this year, and you made 293 podfics for a total run time of 124 hours, 16 minutes, and 4 seconds–that’s over FIVE DAYS of audio!

We have 4 simulpods this year! Incredible things happened in The Queen’s Thief fandom with [tumblr.com profile] deepestbluesky podding a gift for [tumblr.com profile] likethetrench, who recorded the same story for her recipient [tumblr.com profile] feelingsandtaxes, who in turn podded that story for [tumblr.com profile] lady-sci. Classic #ITPE antics! [tumblr.com profile] flowerparrish and [tumblr.com profile] tinybluebirdcloak gifted each other the same story as a treat, with flowerparrish also receiving a podfic of a story ze gifted to another recipient. Finally, [tumblr.com profile] jeremyknox | [tumblr.com profile] kbirbpods and [tumblr.com profile] opalsong both podded the same story for their recipients.

By far our most prolific gifter this year was flowerparrish, who (on top of modding duties) not only made 4 gifts for zir recipient (including a nearly 11 hour podfic), but also picked up 2 pinch hits and made 57 treats. Not far behind was jeremyknox | kbirbpods who also picked up a pinch hit and made 15 main gifts for faer recipients and 16 treats! Opalsong had a relatively restrained year (for her), but still made 10 gifts (nearly 10 hours of audio) for her recipient! [tumblr.com profile] rhea314 was also a generous gifter this year, making 8 main gifts for her recipient and 10 treats! [tumblr.com profile] pezzax was another of our prolific gifters this year, making 22 treats! We also had generous treaters in [tumblr.com profile] blackestglass, [tumblr.com profile] wanderingjedihistorian, [tumblr.com profile] chaoskiro, [tumblr.com profile] j03-05, and [tumblr.com profile] wilfriede! Honorable mentions to [tumblr.com profile] popcornfairy28 and [tumblr.com profile] reena-jenkins for the 3 and 5.5 hour (respectively) podfics they made for their recipients, and to [tumblr.com profile] betrayedbycinnamon for treating despite not being signed up to the exchange!

Finally, we'd like to extend some thank you’s to:

-Data mod [archiveofourown.org profile] flowersforgraves for converting all the sign up data to airtable which makes matching so much easier.
-[archiveofourown.org profile] Asymptotical and [archiveofourown.org profile] Dragonflies_and_Katydids for creating the coding we used to generate distribution day templates.
-Our pinch hitters [tumblr.com profile] alliaskisthepossibilityoflove, [tumblr.com profile] flowerparrish and [tumblr.com profile] jeremyknox | [tumblr.com profile] kbirbpods
-And as always, [twitter.com profile] exmanhater for ITPE’s permanent hosting

Now let’s get on to what you’re really here for…..the masterlist!! Here’s the masterlist spreadsheet for this year’s exchange!

Happy listening!!!
